По морю волны разрезая,

Оставив землю за кормой,

Ни страх, ни ненависть не зная,

Корабль держит путь домой.

Но что за неземная сила!

Но что за дьявольский напев!

Матросам головы вскружил он

Забыть заставив о земле!

И нет их пения чудесней,

Оно и манит, и пьянит.

И, повинуясь зову песни,

На риф плывут, как на магнит!

И ослеплённые погибнут,

И вознесутся к небесам,

Но свой корабль не покинут

И не опустят паруса!

Сотни лет звуки этой песни

Все слышны в тишине…

И свой след потеряли в бездне

Или в призрачном сне…

Кто плыл, лишь волны разрезая,
